    Short travel description:

Day 1: Arrival for an overnight stop-over in southern Germany
    07:00    Departure from Bremen/ZOB
18:00    Arrival at the hotel for an overnight stop-over

Day 2:   Continuation of the journey to the hotel in Njivice
08:00    Departure from the hotel in southern Germany
17:00     Arrival at Hotel Beli Kamik on the island of Krk

Day 3: Island round trip on Krk with wine/ham/cheese tasting and local tour guide (optional: 25.00 Euro per person)
Krk, located in the Mediterranean Sea, is the largest island in the Adriatic Sea with 405.78km² as same-sized Cres, according to recent measurements. It is located in the Kvarner Bay south-east of Rijeka. The Krk bridge has been connecting Krk to the mainland since 1980. Around 17,800 people live on the island. Krk was one of the centres of Croatian culture in its history. One of the most important documents of the Croatian language is the Baška tablet from the year 1100. This inscribed stone plate, which was found in the Romanic St.Lucija Chapel near the village of Baška, has an inscription in Glagolithic script. The sovereignty of Croatian King Zvonimir I as the founder of the chapel is described on it. The noble family of the Frankopans, who played an important role in the history of Croatia, was originally raised to the rank of prince on the island of Krk. Because the island belonged to the Republic of Venice for centuries, parts of the island spoke Vegliotic until the 19th century, an independent dialect, which represented a variety of the Dalmatian language. The wine region of Krk is famous for its white wine Žlahtina, traditionally cultivated in the municipality of Vrbnik; Olive trees are also cultivated in many parts of the island. Apart from this, it offers relatively few opportunities for agriculture, so the inhabitants have used the karst land for centuries to breed sheep (and more rarely also cattle) to produce wool, meat and cheese. Krk is fully developed for tourism and is a popular holiday destination because of its location and proximity to southern Germany, Austria and Upper Italy.

Day 4:    Boat trip to Kosljun Island with local guide, incl. entrance to the Museum and Franciscan Monastery Kosljun (Optional: 25.00 Euro per person)
Košljun is a small island in the bay of Puntarska Draga on the coast of Krk, opposite Punat, in the Adriatic Sea, Croatia. It has a diameter of approx. 300 metres and covers a surface of about 6.5 hectares, but still has a very diverse vegetation. The only inhabitants live in St. Mary's Monastery, a Franciscan convent. The first known settlement of Košljun was a Roman villa rustica, belonging to a landowner of the Roman settlement on Krk. The first documentation for the settlement of the island is a document of 1186, which mentions the existence of a Benedictine monastery. However, this was abandoned in 1447 and Franciscans settled into the monastery. The church was built by the Franciscans in 1480. The Benedictines remained on the island until the 15th century. After the death of the abbot Dominik, a Venezuelan priest took over the abbot of Košljun, and the island was abandoned. Some of the Franciscans complained to the Pope about the fact that the monastery was empty. At their request, the monastery and the island Košljun were handed over to the Order.

Day 5:   Day trip to the Plitvice Lakes with local guide and entrance (optional: 35.00 Euro per person)
Plitvice Lakes National Park is the largest national park in Croatia and the oldest national park in South-Eastern Europe as well. It is a wonderland between forest and lakes. The breathtaking scenery was used to film Karl May's "Winnetou" in the 60s. The National Park was founded in 1949 and is located in the hilly karst region of Central Croatia, not far from the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, directly on an important north-south road link that connects the heart of Croatia with the Mediterranean coastal area. The protected national park area covers 296.85 square kilometres. As one of the first natural monuments in the world, the Plitvice Lakes were included as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. The National Park Administration counts about one million visitors per year.

Day 6: Boat trip with fish picnic (lunch) (optional: 35.00 Euro per person)
Today you can again enjoy the Croatian island world and coastal landscape during a boat trip. A fish picnic awaits you for lunch.

Day 7:    Return journey to the overnight stop-over in Southern Germany
08:00    Departure from Hotel Beli Kamik in Njivice

At noon, you continue through the beautiful Norwegian mountain landscape to the next hotel at Leikanger, directly at the Sognefjord. Day 4:   Sognefjord - Geirangerfjord - Alesund
From the Sognefjord, you will then arrive at the next known Norwegian fjord, the famous Geirangerfjord, which is even a UNESCO World Heritage site. The fact that we have planned to travel to Geiranger via the ferry passage from Hellesylt to Geiranger will allow you to experience the fjord in a particularly impressive way during this approximately one-hour boat trip. After a stay in Geiranger, we will continue through the impressive Norwegian mountains to Alesund. After a great fire in 1904, unique Jugendstil architecture developed here in Northern Europe. Overnight stay is in the centre of Trondheim.

    Day 6:   Trondheim - Lillehammer
From Trondheim, we continue today through the Dovrefjell and the Gudbrandsdal to Lillehammer, the venue of the 1994 Olympic Winter Games. The Dovrefjell will certainly impress you with its wide elevations. This is where the only wild musk ox herd of the European mainland lives. The road reaches its highest point at 1,025m and then descends to the Gudbrandsdal en route to Lillehammer. In addition to the Olympic ski jumping facility, the well-known open-air museum Maihaugen is the main attraction for the small town. The museum was founded by the dentist Anders Sandvig under the name of Sandvigske Samlinger (The Sandvig Collections), who began to collect old houses and buildings of farms from the Gudbrandsdal on his private land in 1887. When his land became too small, the town of Lillehammer offered him the present site in 1904, which was then called Maihaugen and was a kind of city park. Overnight stay in the centre of Lillehammer.

    Day 7:    Lillehammer - Oslo - Gothenburg
In the morning, we will be travelling from Lillehammer along Lake Mjösa to the Norwegian capital Oslo. There, you will enjoy an overview of the city at the Oslofjord during a guided city tour. Special journey with our driver Norbert Rieß

Scotland - 6 days with accommodation between Edinburgh and Glasgow

    So, 15.10. – Fr, 20.10.2017   → Download

Day 1: Sunday, 15.10.2017Pickup of fellow travellers and journey via motorway towards Amsterdam/Ijmuiden, from where you will be sailing to Newcastle in the late afternoon with a DFDS ferry.Dinner (buffet) on board the ferry. Day 2: Monday, 16.10.2017After a good, rich breakfast buffet on board the ferry, you will be en route to Glasgow after the ferry arrives in Newcastle on that day.On your way, there will be a small stop-over in Gretna Green, the former marriage smithy right on the border between England and Scotland.Previously, couples who wished to marry, fled here to take advantage of the liberal Scottish marriage laws. The smithy (old blacksmith's shop - place of marriage) is now a visitor centre and museum. From there, you will be continuing to Glasgow, where you are expected to have a guided tour.In 1999, Glasgow became the City of Architecture and Design, and in doing so, the city's remarkable architecture, tradition and culture were celebrated. As Scotland's capital city, Glasgow has a leading edge with its style and design, with its brasseries in art deco-style, its elegant shops and cultural centres. The city has more than 30 galleries and museums. Glasgow is also home to the Scottish Opera, the Scottish Ballet and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. In this city, with its unique style, the splendour of Victorian architecture is reflected through the impressive Gothic cathedral, the town hall, which has taken over splendid Italian Renaissance elements and the beautiful Jugendstil buildings. However, Glasgow is also a shopping paradise: The St. Enoch Centre represents the modern trend among Europe's largest glass-roofed buildings. Princes Square, on the other hand, has a more exclusive touch, with a high-class atmosphere as can be expected from such a city with a sense of style. You will be spending the next 3 nights in the traditional middle-class Best Western Park Hotel in Falkirk.Dinner (3-course menu) at the hotel.Day 3: Tuesday, 17.10.2017Today's day trip will be characterised by the Scottish capital of Edinburgh. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, its breathtaking silhouette and splendid architecture captivate the eye, starting with the ancient buildings of the old town from the 17th century, over which Edinburgh Castle sits, to the generously-designed Classical buildings of the Georgian New Town. In the heart of the city is the Royal Mile, where you can stroll through the centuries: from Parliament Square and beautiful St. Giles Cathedral from the 15th century, down to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence of Her Majesty the Queen. Here, you will find attractions such as Gladstone's Land, which offers an insight into local life of the 17th century, the Scotch Whiskey Heritage Centre, which tells the story of Scotland's national drink, or John Knox House, the oldest preserved medieval house dating back to 1490. You will also find countless narrow lanes and passages leading to renovated buildings and old courtyards. Dinner (3-course menu) at the hotel. Day 4:  Wednesday, 18.10.2017The centre of today's day trip will be Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The day will be rounded off by visiting a whisky distillery.Loch Lomond is the largest lake in Scotland with an area of about 71 km². It extends in a north-south direction over a length of 39 km, is up to 8 km wide and up to 190 m deep. Loch Lomond has been a part of Loch Lomond National Park and The Trossachs National Park since 2002 and is considered the most beautiful lake in Scotland. After an approx. 1-hour cruise on Loch Lomond, the trip continues through The Trossachs National Park. The Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is one of fourteen national parks in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with an area of 1865 km². After the Scottish Parliament adopted a new law for the protection of landscapes, it was the first of two national parks in the Scottish region to be established on 19th July 2002. The park was officially opened by Princess Anne on 24th July 2002.At the end of this tour, you will be stopping off at one of Scotland's whisky distilleries for a small taster.Dinner (3-course menu) at the hotel. Day 5: Thursday, 19.10.2017Today, we will sadly have to say goodbye to Scotland. On your way to the ferry in Newcastle, you will be stopping over in Jedburgh, as well as a photo stop at Carter Bar at the English-Scottish border. In the afternoon, we will be back onboard a DFDS ferry in Newcastle.Dinner on board the ferry. Day 6: Friday, 20.10.2017After the ferry arrives in Ijmuiden, you will then be on the journey home. Hopefully, you will have collected many nice memories of our holiday together in Scotland in your luggage. However, we have added a special highlight for the return trip. You will receive a lunch and a guided tour of Emsflower in Emsbüren.Emsflower GmbH is one of the largest horticultural companies in Europe and already a market leader in Europe. In addition to Emsbüren, Emsflower has further locations in Denekamp (Netherlands, 17 hectares), Fretzdorf (near Berlin, circa 8-10 ha), as well as a cultivating farm in Moshi (Tanzania, at the foot of Kilimanjaro).
