Reliable passenger transport since 1947
For over 75 years, Rahden's travel service has stood for reliable mobility in northern Germany. Whether in regular service, group travel, or bus rentals, we think in a solution-oriented way, act in a down-to-earth manner, and invest with foresight. What drives us is the conviction that quality is not only measurable but also tangible: in planning, in service, and in our interactions with one another.

Every day, around 130 people work to ensure that planning, technology, and service work together seamlessly. With well-established processes, modern technology, and a team that thinks proactively and gets things done. Our goal: Mobility that works reliably—and feels good.

Our history at a glance
From a bold new beginning to a modern mobility service provider—Rahden's travel service is growing with experience, attitude, new technologies, and people who take responsibility.
1945 Founding
Hinrich von Rahden returned to Schwanewede after the war and purchased a MAN bus from the bankruptcy estate of the German Reich. Two years later, he used it to found his own transport company.
1949 First regular service
After initial occasional trips to clubs and family celebrations, the first regular service began between Meyenburg, Schwanewede, Burgdamm, and Osterholz-Scharmbeck.
1950: The first coach
The first bus was a Borgward—a real milestone for the young company and the start of a new era of travel.
1954: A new location
Hinrich von Rahden acquires the 4,000 square meter plot of land and the old dairy building in Schwanewede. It remains the company's location to this day.
1958: The first travel agency
Von Rahden opens the first travel agency. Group travel sales begin in a living room on Delmestraße in Bremen. Today's travel agency is located on Weserstrandstraße.
1963: Death of the founder
Following the sudden death of her husband, Erika von Rahden continues to run the company with passion and energy. Her dedication lays the foundation for the further growth and success of the family business.
1972: 25th anniversary
With Erika von Rahden at the helm, 18 buses are in operation regionally and across Europe.
The 70s and 80s: Handing over to the next generation
Hinrich and Rolf von Rahden, the sons, join the management team. The fleet grows to over 50 vehicles. Responsibilities are clearly divided: Hinrich is in charge of regular service and technology, while Rolf is responsible for tourism.
2004: New management team
Following the death of Rolf von Rahden, Hinrich and Cornelia von Rahden take over responsibility for all areas of the business. Ute von Rahden also supports the company.
2010: Death of Erika von Rahden
She passed away at the age of 90. Her death marked the end of an era. "Honor, preserve, respect, and increase what you inherit!" or "Those who do their work day after day, often and gladly, should also enjoy themselves." Her much-quoted guiding principles live on in the family and in the company. They provide orientation and connect the generations to this day.
Today: Three generations, one company
Jan-Peer, Michael, Lennart, and other family members are actively involved in shaping the company today—in management, technology, costing, administration, and line operations. The values embodied by their grandmother remain palpable: reliability, solidarity, and a clear vision for the future. With a strong team, the von Rahden family is continuing the tradition and developing it further together.
